[A pause. then:]

I'm not infallible. But it's unlikely anyone representing a threat would be able to approach the Meadows without attracting my attention.

I was winterproofing barns, but it can wait. Unless you would prefer to assist me with that.

A few minutes pass without a response back.

Suddenly - bursting from around the corner is Murphy. Out of breath, as he'd just ran the whole way. Nostrils are flared, dragging in the cold winter air and right back out in a harsh exhale.

"Shit," Murphy says, breathless. He jerks, looking over his shoulder to see if he was still being followed. No, whoever it was, has stopped.

"You seriously haven't heard anything?" His attention flicks over to Kylo.

Kylo is slow and deliberate as he stands and turns to watch Murphy's approach, brow furrowed. There is, quite clearly, no-one else there.
Just as Murphy quite clearly believes there is. Or was.

He tosses the hammer still in his hand aside.

"No. You heard it behind you?"

[mofi]

There was nothing following him, nothing real anyway. Just a hallucination to haunt him, a very real hallucination.

Murphy moves closer to Kylo, stopping until they are both within arm's reach. "I saw it. It was right behind me." His breath comes out in ragged exhales, quickly dragging air back inside of his lungs.

"You didn't see anything?"
